The Naitasiri senior men’s rugby team has been awarded a $10,000 bonus following their triumphant victory in the INKK Sullivan Farebrother Trophy Challenge. This generous bonus was presented by their sponsors, Jacks of Fiji, during a ceremony held in Suva earlier today. The event also featured a traditional welcome ceremony known as ‘i-vakamamaca’ to show appreciation for the team’s remarkable performance this season in the Skipper Cup competition.
Naitasiri’s impressive run included winning all five of their Farebrother matches, culminating in their title win at home in Naluwai two weeks ago. Colonel Aseri Rokoura, the Rugby President of Naitasiri, emphasizes the dedication and hard work the team puts into their training. He expressed that the bonus is a significant recognition of their efforts, especially as many may overlook the daily commitment involved, including long journeys from the highlands for training.
Rokoura shared his gratitude for Jacks of Fiji’s ongoing support, noting the partnership they began last December has led to various incentives that positively motivate the players. This sentiment was echoed during the event, where Biu Tadranu, the Brands Activation Manager for Jacks of Fiji, announced an even greater challenge: a $25,000 reward if Naitasiri secures the Skipper Cup title.
This incentive aligns with the growing anticipation as Naitasiri prepares to face Ba in the quarterfinals tomorrow at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka. The match is set to kick off at 3 PM, following a game between Malolo and Nadroga at 1 PM, with viewers able to catch both encounters live on FBC 2.
The excitement surrounding Naitasiri’s achievements and upcoming matches reflects the passionate spirit of Fijian rugby, as the team shows resilience and determination in pursuing further glory this season. The support from sponsors and the community serves to uplift the players, creating a hopeful atmosphere as they aim for continued success.
