Seventeen students from Naitasiri Secondary School were involved in a vehicle accident earlier this week, but they are set to receive compassionate passes following the necessary reports from medical and school authorities. This information was confirmed by the Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro.

The accident occurred at Navuniyasi Village Saumakia Junction when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, leading to it veering off the road. Injured students were promptly taken to Vunidawa Hospital for treatment. While police investigations are ongoing, Mr. Radrodro stated that no additional details about the accident’s cause were available at this time.

Furthermore, the Minister indicated that students would be supported in filing claims with the Accident Compensation Commission Fiji (ACCF). He emphasized the importance of parents, guardians, and teachers remaining proactive about safety to help prevent future accidents. This incident has highlighted the community’s resilience and the need for awareness regarding the fragility of life.

The Ministry of Education is fully behind the students, their families, and all affected by this unfortunate event, ensuring that they receive the necessary assistance and support during this challenging time.

In summary, while this is a distressing situation for the involved students, the proactive response from authorities and the community’s support illustrates the strength and resilience of those affected. With proper care and attention, the healing process will hopefully lead to recovery and increased awareness around road safety.
