Naitasiri Secondary School Sets Sights on Rugby Glory: Can They Defend Their Title?

Naitasiri Secondary School Gears Up for Epic Title Defense

Naitasiri Secondary School is preparing for an intense season as they defend their championship title in the Fiji Secondary School Rugby League’s under-19 category. Following their victory against Ba Provincial in last year’s final, the team is stepping into the new season with increased expectations from both players and fans.

Head coach Rusiate Talebula underscored the need to return to basic training strategies to enhance team cohesion. “This year will not be easy for us, as we strive to hold on to the trophy again. We have gone back to the fundamentals, focusing on the basics and bringing the players together,” he emphasized. The team’s motto, “Together we rise,” reflects their dedication to teamwork and striving for excellence.

Naitasiri commenced their 2025 season with a strong start, achieving a 26-8 win against Bua Secondary School at the Saint Marcelin Primary School Grounds in Suva. As they move forward, Talebula expressed that each game will be approached with utmost seriousness, treating every match as a vital opportunity to showcase their talent.

This season is shaping up to be highly competitive, with teams like Natabua High School showing promising performances across various categories. This vibrant competition within Fiji’s school rugby arena is a testament to the community’s support, which plays a crucial role in nurturing young athletes.

The positive atmosphere surrounding youth sports in Fiji not only highlights the potential for growth and talent but also fosters a spirit of camaraderie and shared goals among schools. Fans can look forward to exhilarating matches ahead, as Naitasiri aims to retain their title in the face of tough competition.
