Fijiana 7s player Ana Maria Naimasi has been spotted training with the Brumbies women’s team in Australia, signaling a potential move to join the club for the 2025 Super W season. While there hasn’t been any official confirmation from the Brumbies, Naimasi was seen practicing with the squad while wearing their gear.

Joining Naimasi at the Brumbies is fellow Fijiana 15s prop Iris Verebalavu, alongside Wallaroos number 8, Tabua Tuinakauvadra. Naimasi has recently represented the Fijiana 7s in the 2024 Dubai and Cape Town tournaments and has made a notable impact on the team.

Since 2023, she has become Fijiana’s leading try scorer in the World Sevens Series and was instrumental in Fijiana’s historic bronze medal win at the Tokyo Olympics, which marked a significant achievement for Fiji. Additionally, she contributed to the team’s silver medal success at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and represented Fiji at the 2022 Rugby Sevens World Cup where they finished in 5th place.

With the women’s rugby World Cup on the horizon, Naimasi may be setting her sights on a spot in the Fijiana 15s squad, further enhancing her rugby career and the prospects for women’s rugby in Fiji.

This development represents an exciting new chapter in Naimasi’s career and speaks to the growing opportunities for women athletes in rugby, particularly in the 15s format. Fans of women’s rugby are hopeful that such moves will inspire more young women to take up the sport and aspire to compete at the highest levels.
