Naikabula Shines as Japan Dominates in Pacific Nations Cup Opener

Fiji-born winger Jone Naikabula had a standout performance, scoring a try in Japan’s 55-20 victory against Canada in the Pacific Nations Cup opener held in Vancouver on Monday.

Naikabula demonstrated his speed by covering over 40 meters without any opposition to score a remarkable try for the Cherry Blossoms. He also played a significant role in setting up additional tries during the match.

Lock Warner Dearns was named Man of the Match, contributing two tries to Japan’s commanding win, alongside scores from teammates Tomoki Osada, Seungsin Lee, Dylan Riley, Kanji Shimokawa, and Malo Tuitama.

In the next round of the Pacific Nations Cup, Samoa, fresh off a 42-16 loss to Fiji in Suva last week, will host Tonga at Apia Park on Saturday. Canada is set to face the USA Eagles on Monday. The Fiji Water Flying Fijians will enjoy a bye this round but will travel to Teufaiva Park in Nukualofa next week to take on Tonga.
