Vuiviwa Naduvalo, the leading try-scorer for HSBC SVNS 2025/26, has been named in the Fiji Airways men’s 7s team for the upcoming Vancouver 7s tournament. After recovering from a concussion sustained during the Perth 7s final in Australia, Naduvalo returned to training last week, ready to contribute to his team’s performance on the international stage.

Coach Osea Kolinisau saw enough in Naduvalo’s training performance to include him in the squad for both the Vancouver and New York legs of the series. Speaking from Albert Park in Suva ahead of the final squad announcement, Naduvalo expressed confidence in the team’s preparations, stating they have remained robust and even intensified as they approach these significant tournaments.

“Our preparations have not faltered. In fact, the intensity of our training has consistently increased. Coach Kolinisau has played a crucial role in our readiness for these legs,” he remarked. With tough competition looming in Pool B—featuring formidable teams such as Australia, Argentina, and France—Naduvalo emphasized that the squad has been diligent in analyzing their opponents’ strengths and weaknesses.

The team has engaged in thorough discussions about how each rival performed on the field, ensuring they are well prepared for the challenges ahead. “We are committed to showcasing what we’ve learned as a team on the pitch,” he said confidently.

In addition to Naduvalo, most of the players who participated in the Singapore and Perth legs have been retained for the Vancouver tournament, while Akuila Dranivotua from Police Blue and Devo Babas is poised to make his debut, adding fresh talent to the squad. With the team’s collective effort and strategic preparations, Fiji intends to make a significant impact in Vancouver, reflecting their growth and determination in the world of rugby sevens.
