Pawan Singh, a former defender for Fiji U20 and Labasa, sealed a remarkable victory for NZ Nadroga with a stunning goal as they triumphed 2-1 over Narere/Makoi in their first match of the Rams Group of Companies 10th Sanatan World Cup in Sydney.
NZ Nadroga, which also featured former Nadroga, Nadi, and Rewa player Jeshal Kumar and former Suva midfielder Shahil Dave, opened the scoring with a goal from striker Akshay Shandil. Singh then added the second goal with an impressive volley that caught both the goalkeeper and the Narere/Makoi defense off guard.
Narere/Makoi, bolstered by players from Tailevu Naitasiri such as Abhishek Deo, Nischal Lal, and Prashant Chand, managed to pull one back just minutes after conceding. They had a chance to level the match late in the game, but Singh’s timely and crucial clearance ensured that NZ Nadroga secured the win.
In other matches that took place this evening, NZ Ba defeated Uluisila 1-0, while Sydney Ba and Nakasi ended in a 1-1 draw.
