Nadroga pulled off a significant upset in the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) today at Churchill Park in Lautoka, defeating the defending champions Ba 1-0 in an exciting Group B match.
Following a 7-0 loss to Rewa the previous day and the dismissal of coach Viliame Toma, the Stallions, led on the sidelines by Fiji U16 Coach Sunil Kumar, approached the game with a refreshed attitude and a strong desire to improve.
Semesa Sacere was the star of the match, scoring the crucial goal in the first half. Ba aggressively attempted to turn the game around, launching numerous attacks; however, Nadroga’s defense, fortified by the experience of Krishneel Dutt and goalkeeper Sakeo Taganeca, held strong against the onslaught.
This comeback victory keeps Sigatoka Electric/Nadroga Auto Marine Upholstery Nadroga in contention for the tournament. They are scheduled to face Nadi in their final group match tomorrow at 2pm, while RC Manubhai Ba will take on Rewa at 6pm.
