Nadroga pulled off a major upset in the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) at Churchill Park in Lautoka by defeating defending champions Ba 1-0 in an exciting Group B match.
Following a disheartening 7-0 loss to Rewa the previous day and the dismissal of coach Viliame Toma, the Stallions, under the guidance of Fiji U16 Coach Sunil Kumar, took to the field with renewed determination and a clear intent to improve.
Semesa Sacere emerged as the hero for Nadroga, scoring the decisive goal in the first half. Despite Ba’s relentless efforts to equalize, including deploying all their offensive strategies, Nadroga’s experienced players, including Krishneel Dutt and goalkeeper Sakeo Taganeca, held firm against the pressure and successfully defended their lead.
This victory revitalizes Nadroga’s chances in the tournament, as they prepare to face Nadi in their final group match scheduled for 2 PM tomorrow, while RC Manubhai Ba will take on Rewa at 6 PM.
