Nadroga achieved a remarkable upset in the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) held at Churchill Park in Lautoka, defeating the defending champions Ba 1-0 in a thrilling Group B match.
Following a significant 7-0 loss to Rewa the previous day, which led to the dismissal of coach Viliame Toma, the Stallions, under the guidance of Fiji U16 Coach Sunil Kumar, displayed a refreshed attitude and determination to improve.
The standout player for Nadroga was Semesa Sacere, whose first-half goal proved crucial. Although Ba fought hard to equalize and launched numerous attacks, Nadroga’s experienced players, including Krishneel Dutt and goalkeeper Sakeo Taganeca, held strong and successfully thwarted Ba’s efforts.
This victory keeps Nadroga’s hopes alive in the tournament as they prepare to face Nadi in their final group match at 2 PM tomorrow, while RC Manubhai Ba is scheduled to take on Rewa at 6 PM.
