Nadroga achieved a significant upset in the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) by defeating defending champions Ba 1-0 at Churchill Park in Lautoka. This thrilling match marked a turnaround for the Stallions, who had faced a heavy 7-0 defeat to Rewa the day before, leading to the dismissal of their coach, Viliame Toma. Under the guidance of Fiji U16 Coach Sunil Kumar, Nadroga entered the match with renewed determination.
Semesa Sacere was the standout player, scoring the crucial goal in the first half that secured the victory for Nadroga. Despite Ba’s relentless efforts to equalize, the team’s defense, led by experienced players Krishneel Dutt and goalkeeper Sakeo Taganeca, proved too strong, effectively shutting down Ba’s offense.
Nadroga’s victory keeps them in contention for the tournament, as they prepare to face Nadi in their final group match scheduled for 2 PM tomorrow. Meanwhile, Ba will clash with Rewa at 6 PM.
