Nadroga pulled off a significant upset in the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) at Churchill Park in Lautoka by defeating the defending champions Ba 1-0 in an exciting Group B match.
Following a heavy 7-0 loss to Rewa the previous day and the dismissal of coach Viliame Toma, Nadroga, now led by Fiji U16 Coach Sunil Kumar, took to the field with a renewed mindset and determination to improve.
The standout player for Nadroga was Semesa Sacere, whose goal in the first half proved decisive.
Ba fought hard to regain control of the match and employed all its resources, but Nadroga’s defense, bolstered by the experience of Krishneel Dutt and goalkeeper Sakeo Taganeca, successfully thwarted their attempts.
This vital win keeps Nadroga’s hopes alive in the tournament, as they prepare to face Nadi in their final group match at 2pm tomorrow, while RC Manubhai Ba will take on Rewa at 6pm.
