“Nadroga Rugby Union Celebrates Skipper Cup Victory with Surprise Prize Money”

The Cambridge Farms Nadroga Rugby Union teams and their supporters are eagerly gearing up for a Skipper Cup celebration after officially receiving their prize money from the Fiji Rugby Union.

This was confirmed by Nadroga Rugby Union (NRU) president Jiuta Waqavonovono to SUNsports yesterday.

Waqavonovono announced that the funds arrived last Thursday, expressing his gratitude to the FRU for the timely delivery.

“We can finally commence our celebration plans. The people of Nadroga have been eagerly anticipating this moment as we take pride in our players,” he stated.

However, Waqavonovono clarified that the prize money for this year’s Skipper Cup is $20,000, a reduction from the usual $30,000 awarded in previous years. Additionally, the Nadroga Under-20 team received $5,000 for their victory in the Skipper Cup U20 competition.

“We will need to adjust our budget slightly to accommodate all our plans. We will also notify our sponsors about the celebration,” he mentioned.

“Everyone is looking forward to it, and we are all excited to honor our heroes,” he added.

Waqavonovono also expressed his appreciation to family members and supporters who have consistently backed the teams throughout the competition.
