Nadroga’s football team has secured its place in the 2024 Inter District Championship with a decisive 4-1 win over Tailevu Naitasiri in the Digicel Fiji Premier League at Lawaqa Park. The Stallions opened the match strongly, scoring three goals in the first half. Semesa Sacere kicked things off with the first goal, followed by Joel Chand who increased the lead. Abhishek Ram then added a third from the penalty spot, giving Nadroga a strong advantage.

Tailevu Naitasiri showed resilience in the second half and managed to net a goal through Sakiusa Saqiri in the 48th minute, briefly revitalizing their hopes. However, Nadroga’s goalkeeper Sakeo Tageneca swiftly squashed any chance of a comeback by scoring from the penalty spot, bringing the final score to 4-1.

This victory places Nadroga at 17 points, five points ahead of Tailevu Naitasiri and Nasinu, who are tied with 12 points each and are now facing potential relegation. As the league approaches its final round, critical matchups lie ahead: Nasinu will take on Nadroga, while Tailevu Naitasiri will face Lautoka.

In other league action, Navua secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Nasinu at the Uprising Sports Complex. After a goalless first half, Jared Rongosulia netted the only goal from the penalty spot in the second half. Suva also pulled off an upset, winning 1-0 against Lautoka at Churchill Park, where Jo Moses scored the match’s sole goal in the first half.

Ba managed a last-minute victory over Labasa, edging them 2-1 at the Fiji FA Academy Ground. Labasa initially took the lead with a goal from Christopher Wasasala in the 18th minute, but Etonia Dogalau equalized 20 minutes later before Faazil Ali scored the decisive goal in the dying moments.

The final round of the Digicel Premier League is set for this weekend, after which teams will prepare for the IDC in Lautoka next month.
