Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospital in Legalega Nadi is at the forefront of healthcare innovation with the launch of its new three-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This development aims to address the needs of critically ill patients in the private healthcare sector within the Western corridor.
The ICU will also provide essential support for critically ill tourists requiring multi-organ support, advanced intensive care, stabilization, and preparation for medical repatriation to their home countries. Dr. Ratu Vereniki Raiwalui, a staff consultant intensivist and anaesthesiologist at PSH Specialist Hospital, emphasized that this service enhances the perioperative and surgical offerings of the hospital.
Additionally, the newly developed intensive care services are crucial for providing open-heart off-pump procedures. Alongside these advancements, PSH Private Specialists’ Hospital has recently introduced 24-hour General Practitioner services for local communities in the Western corridor, catering to hotels and remote islands in the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups.
PSH Specialist Hospital already offers a range of services, including emergency support, elective surgical procedures, perioperative anaesthetic services, advanced diagnostics, cardiovascular and interventional cardiology services, as well as obstetrics and gynecology. The hospital is set to expand its offerings further with the upcoming launch of ophthalmology and pediatric services.
Director Parvish Kumar stated that the hospital aims to push the limits of specialist tertiary and quaternary care to become the leading provider of patient-focused healthcare in Fiji and the Pacific Islands. Clinical Director Dr. Sanson F. Fousaga noted that Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospital also delivers specialist medical referral services to patients from other Pacific Islands, including medical retrieval services to facilitate access to high-level specialist care.
