A new Land Transport Authority office was inaugurated in Waimalika, Nadi, with an investment of $145,000, as Transport Minister Ro Filipe Tuisawau officially opened the facility on Thursday. This new office signifies the relocation of portable cameras from the Nadi Back Rd to this newly established site.
In conjunction with the Waimalika office opening, Minister Tuisawau also unveiled the Nadi Express office in Martintar, which represents a more substantial investment of $584,000. He highlighted that Nadi is recognized as a region with high traffic volume, making it essential to establish facilities capable of accommodating current and future demands.
Sustainability and future developments were key themes in the minister’s remarks as he emphasized the importance of meticulous planning in response to population growth, business expansion, and the rising number of vehicles on the roads. Since taking office two years ago, he has observed a notable lack of such foresight and underlined the necessity to think ahead in light of the expected growth in the region.
Tuisawau also responded to concerns regarding the loss of agricultural land due to business developments, pointing out that criticisms could lead to beneficial outcomes, as witnessed in the ongoing advancements in Nadi. With 27,545 registered vehicles and 33,867 licensed drivers in Nadi, the need for strategic development is more pertinent than ever.
This initiative not only aims to enhance transportation infrastructure but also reflects a commitment to adapting to the region’s evolving demands. With sustained efforts in planning and development, the outlook for Nadi’s transportation network appears promising, indicating a proactive approach to infrastructure management.
