The recent inauguration of a second Land Transport Authority (LTA) outlet in Nadi aims to address the increasing traffic demands in the Western Division. Public Works, Meteorological Services, and Transport Minister Ro Filipe Tuisawau announced the opening during a ceremony yesterday, highlighting the necessity for improved services given the rising volume of traffic, particularly in Nadi and its surrounding areas.
Minister Tuisawau officially opened the new office located in Waimalika, along with the express office situated at Martintar. He expressed satisfaction with the initiative, stating that the dual office openings are a direct response to the numerous complaints received regarding service delays and long waiting times, where patrons have often been seen waiting outdoors in the heat.
Nadi is recognized as a hub of significant activity related to LTA services, such as vehicle licensing. Tuisawau emphasized the importance of providing adequate facilities to meet this demand, acknowledging Nadi’s status as a crucial area for development. With a current record of 27,545 registered vehicles and 33,867 drivers in the region, the transportation landscape has become increasingly complex, leading to his reflection on the discrepancy between the number of drivers and vehicles.
Looking to the future, the minister underscored the need for proactive planning that aligns with population growth and business developments in the area. By strategizing to enhance transport infrastructure and services, the government hopes to alleviate challenges faced by residents and improve overall efficiency.
This new development not only represents an essential improvement in public services for Nadi but also marks a step toward more systematic planning as the region continues to grow and develop economically.
