The recent inauguration of the Country Hotel in Nadi represents a significant investment aimed at enhancing accommodation options while also benefiting the local community. The investment amounts to $750,000 and was officially unveiled by Mere Bolavucu Navuniuci, the wife of Tui Nadi, during the opening ceremony held this week.
During her remarks, Ms. Navuniuci underscored the importance of the hotel in meeting the increasing demand for services in Fiji’s busy tourism sector while also providing job opportunities for local residents. The owner of the property, Ben Krishna, expressed pride in the expansion, noting it as the third site for his business in the west after the opening of Kiran Palace and Hotel Martintar.
Improvements to the hotel include expanding the number of guest rooms from 11 to 20 and adding amenities such as a swimming pool tailored for both adults and children. Accessibility enhancements have also been made, featuring wheelchair ramps and inclusive restrooms for various needs.
The hotel’s commitment to local agriculture is evident through the collaboration with Ben Krishna’s wife, Parvati Devi, who provides organic produce from their farm in Yako to the hotel. Ms. Devi emphasized her desire to contribute positively to the community in Nadi, integrating a farm-to-fork concept that enriches both the hotel’s offerings and local suppliers.
This initiative not only enriches the hospitality sector but also highlights the collaboration between local businesses and the community, serving as a hopeful milestone for future developments in the region. As Fiji continues to recover and grow its tourism sector, projects like Country Hotel play a critical role in fostering economic growth and community empowerment.
