Watisoni Voli emerged as the standout player, leading JK Nadi Masters to a 2-1 victory over Rewa Masters in the Over 45 finals of the RC Manubhai/Apco Coatings Veterans Tournament held at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.
Rewa took an early advantage, scoring in the third minute, but Nadi quickly responded with Salesh Singh finding the net to level the score before halftime.
In the second half, both teams fought fiercely; however, it was Voli who secured the win with a decisive goal that evaded the Rewa goalkeeper.
Nadi’s coach, Nilesh Kumar, expressed his pride in the team’s achievement, particularly noting that this was his first year as the team’s coach. “I am really proud of the team’s performance. Winning in my first year coaching is significant for us,” Kumar stated. “Rewa proved to be a tough competitor, but we managed to score that final goal. Now it’s time to celebrate with our families and friends.”
In the Over 40 final, Rewa Masters claimed victory with a narrow 1-0 win against Nadi Masters.
