The Fiji Police Force has announced movement restrictions in Nadi town tonight due to severe weather conditions. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu emphasized that the area has been significantly impacted by continuous rainfall, prompting police to closely monitor all activities in the town.

“This measure is taken to ensure the safety of all Fijians and to secure the Central Business Area of Nadi,” stated ACPO Driu. He expressed concerns about protecting properties in town from potential threats by opportunistic individuals.

Police standby teams are already in action, assisting in the evacuation of residents from disaster-prone areas and remaining prepared for further developments throughout the night. The Fiji Police Force will continue to oversee conditions in the inundated regions of the Western Division.

This proactive approach by the police underscores their commitment to community safety during challenging weather events. The collective efforts of law enforcement and local authorities are essential in ensuring the well-being of residents in affected areas.

It’s hopeful to note that such measures can help prevent further incidents during natural disasters and ensure that residents are safe and secure.
