A sub-clan in Nadi is experiencing renewed business opportunities thanks to assistance from the government. Last week, Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica presented a new excavator to Tokatoka Namara Development Pte Ltd, signaling a significant investment in rural entrepreneurship and sustainable development.
This new machinery is expected to alleviate financial pressures on the company and enhance productivity. The firm has expanded its operations into gravel extraction, leveraging local resources to build a sustainable business that benefits the members of Sikituru Village.
Kamikamica reaffirmed the government’s dedication to providing equal opportunities for traditional landowners and commended the community’s efforts in establishing their enterprise. He noted, “This investment of $78,666.67, funded through the Integrated Human Resource Development Programme, reflects our confidence in the potential of rural enterprises to foster economic growth.”
He recognized the difficulties faced by micro and small enterprises in accessing funds and reiterated the government’s commitment to looking for innovative financing solutions, including small grants and crowdfunding.
The introduction of the excavator is expected to streamline operations, leading to increased production and greater economic benefits for the local community. Kamikamica stated, “The event showcases the resilience and creativity of our rural population. Together, we renew our commitment to promote rural entrepreneurship and create a prosperous future for all Fijians.”
Company director Vilikisa Sayabo expressed gratitude for the government’s support. “We established our business two years ago, focusing on gravel extraction. Previously, we had to hire an excavator from contractors. With the government’s assistance, we were able to acquire this machine, which will significantly enhance our productivity and revenue,” he shared.
