Watisoni Voli emerged as the standout player as he led JK Nadi Masters to a 2-1 victory against Rewa Masters in the Over 45 finals of the RC Manubhai/Apco Coatings Veterans Tournament held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.
Rewa took an early lead just three minutes into the match, but Nadi responded with Salesh Singh finding the back of the net to equalize before the halftime break.
The second half saw intense action from both teams, yet it was Voli who scored the decisive goal, outsmarting the Rewa goalkeeper.
Nadi’s coach, Nilesh Kumar, expressed his pride in the team’s performance, highlighting that this was his first year at the helm.
“I’m really proud of the team’s performance; winning in my first year as coach is significant for us,” Kumar stated. “Rewa challenged us throughout the match, but we managed to clinch that final goal. Now it’s time to celebrate with our families and friends.”
In other tournament news, Rewa Masters claimed victory in the Over 40 final, defeating Nadi Masters 1-0.
