Landing lights at Nadi International Airport have been successfully restored following a temporary outage that led to multiple flight diversions. The disruption began when a lightning strike affected the transmitter, causing a system failure.

Among the flights impacted was Fiji Airways flight FJ950 from Canberra, which was initially redirected to Nausori Airport but has since returned and landed at Nadi International. Other flights that faced diversions include FJ910, redirected to Apia; FJ262 from Port Vila, also sent to Apia; FJ960 from Adelaide, which landed in Nausori; and FJ274 from Tonga, diverted to Nausori. Additionally, Virgin Australia flight VA179 was diverted to Noumea, while Fiji Airways flight FJ460 ended up in Apia.

Airports Fiji Limited has announced that a formal statement regarding the incident will be issued soon, providing further details on the situation and any measures taken to prevent future occurrences. The swift restoration of the landing lights is a relief to both passengers and airline operators, ensuring that normal operations can resume at the busy international airport in Fiji.
