Nadi Hosts Fiji Primary Schools Football Championship Kickoff Amid Youth Talent Boom

The 48th Extra Fiji Primary Schools Inter-District Championship kicked off at King Charles Park in Nadi, showcasing an impressive display of talent from young athletes. Dinamani Mudaliar, president of the Fiji Primary Schools Football Association, expressed enthusiasm about the level of skill exhibited on the tournament’s opening day, which featured a total of 21 Under-14 boys’ teams and 11 girls’ teams from various regions across Fiji.

Mudaliar credited the perfect venue and favorable weather for the quality of play, noting, “We can see a lot of talent on day one of competition… a great start I can say.” The closely contested matches, with scorelines such as 1-0 and 2-0, reflect the careful preparation of the teams and their eagerness to compete. This foreshadows an exciting tournament as teams continue to vie for top positions.

Highlighted performances on the first day came from well-known teams including Nadi, Suva, Rewa, Labasa, Lautoka, and newcomers Levuka, who captured attention with their spirited play. Over the course of the four-day event, budding football stars are given the opportunity to shine, with finals scheduled for Friday.

Mudaliar acknowledged the crucial support from sponsors, including Extra Supermarket and Fiji Football Associations, for their contribution to the success of the competition. He invited the community to attend the matches, which offer free entry, emphasizing the importance of local support in fostering young talent.
