The Nadi futsal team triumphed in the 2024 Digicel Fiji National Futsal League-Western Zone, maintaining an impressive record of 10 consecutive games without a loss. The competition featured a double round-robin format, during which the Jetsetters, over a span of 10 weeks, overcame teams such as Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, Lautoka, and Nadroga to secure the championship.
Team director Manoj Kumar attributes the team’s success to the players’ discipline and the new futsal turf at the Nadi Muslim College multi-purpose court, which he believes significantly contributed to their performance this season.
“The victory is dedicated to all the players and our coach Vikash Chand, who played a crucial role in our campaign,” he stated. Kumar highlighted that from the very first match, their objective was to dominate the Western League, and the players adhered to the strategy laid out for them.
He noted, “The key difference this year was the switch to a proper futsal turf, which greatly enhanced the players’ performance.” Looking ahead, the team’s attention is now directed toward the Fiji FA Super Six, where the top two teams from the North, South, and West will compete.
“We are gearing up for the Super Six, which did not occur last year but is part of the Fiji FA football calendar this year, alongside the Futsal Inter District Championship later on,” he said. The team, coached by Vikash Chand, ended their Western League campaign with a resounding 7-0 win against Lautoka Futsal in their final match, finishing with a remarkable total of 28 points.
