The Nadi futsal team has emerged triumphant in the 2024 Digicel Fiji National Futsal League-Western Zone, going undefeated over 10 matches. In the league’s double round-robin format, the Jetsetters secured victories against Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, Lautoka, and Nadroga over a period of 10 weeks to claim the championship title.
Team director Manoj Kumar attributed the success to the players’ discipline and the use of new futsal turf at the Nadi Muslim College multi-purpose court, which he believes significantly enhanced their performance this season. Kumar expressed gratitude to all players and the coach, Vikash Chand, for their crucial roles in the team’s success.
From the outset, the team’s objective was to win the Western League, and Kumar noted that the players diligently followed the planned strategy. He remarked, “The difference this year was that we started playing on proper futsal turf, which uplifted the players’ performance.”
Looking ahead, the team’s focus is now set on the Fiji FA Super Six, where the top teams from the North, South, and West will compete. Kumar added that preparations are underway for the Super Six, which was not held last year but is included in this year’s Fiji FA football calendar, along with the Futsal Inter District Championship later in the year.
In their final match of the Western League, the Vikash Chand-coached team delivered a commanding 7-0 victory over the Lautoka Futsal squad, wrapping up their campaign with an impressive total of 28 points.
