The Cabinet has reviewed the findings of the Alternative Options Assessment Report regarding the Nadi Flood Alleviation Project, which was conducted by the Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific.
Key government ministries, including the Finance, Strategic Planning, National Development and Statistics Ministry, the Agriculture and Waterways Ministry, the Lands and Mineral Resources Ministry, the Local Government Ministry, and the Nadi Town Council, are set to investigate potential funding sources and strategies for implementing the project.
The primary goal of the Nadi Flood Alleviation Project is to enhance flood prevention efforts and mitigate flood risks by developing key infrastructure such as drainage systems, embankments, and a reservoir for Nadi, situated along the lower reaches of the Nadi River.
