Calgary Nadi FC, sponsored by Mahijibhai Hardware, is set to compete in the 2024 FMF Inter-District Championship (IDC), which kicks off today at Churchill Park in Lautoka. The team will face the defending champions, Ba, in their opening match of Pool B at 8 p.m.
The squad has been strengthened by the addition of Canadian-based midfielder Ali Nasir and former Fiji U-20 player Abdullah Aiyaz, who are part of the 22-member roster. Nadi football president Mohammed Rafiq expressed gratitude to all sponsors for their support leading up to the IDC.
Rafiq praised the Nadi team management for their efforts in assembling the team and noted that the players are eager to compete against Ba, acknowledging their status as defending champions. He encouraged Nadi fans to support the team and assured them that they will strive to deliver a strong performance.
Additionally, Rafiq announced that Raj Dayal, who is based in Canada, would serve as the head coach, with Varun Karan assisting him.
