A team from the Joint Serious and Organised Crime Unit, comprising members from Suva and the West, conducted a raid in Nadi on Thursday afternoon, resulting in the arrest of five men alleged to be involved in the drug trade.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, Mesake Waqa, reported that authorities seized several sachets containing a white substance believed to be methamphetamine, as well as dried leaves thought to be marijuana.
The confiscated substances have been sent for analysis as the investigation continues, and the five individuals were taken into custody.
In addition, several arrests were made last week of persons suspected of selling narcotics in the five policing divisions.
