Last night’s opening match of the 2024 Extra Supermarket Futsal Inter District Championship (IDC) in Suva saw last season’s finalists, Nadi, engaged in a fiercely contested game against Lami. Nadi, featuring key players Patrick Joseph and Rusiate Matarerega, managed to take the lead on three different occasions. However, Lami proved resilient, consistently equalizing the score each time.
The match was evenly poised at halftime with a score of 2-2, thanks to Matarerega’s two goals for Nadi and contributions from Lami’s Ravneel Pal and Shivneel Chand. Nadi’s Bir Khan regained the lead in the 30th minute, only for Pal to bring Lami back into contention three minutes later. Ultimately, Khan worked hard to secure the winning goal for Nadi, securing a 4-3 victory.
Looking ahead, Nadi will be facing Lautoka today at 3 PM, while Lami will challenge Labasa at 6 PM. This early round sets the tone for an exciting tournament, showcasing the fierce competition and teamwork between the teams.
This match reflects the vibrant spirit of futsal in the region, and both teams have a lot to demonstrate as the tournament progresses. Fans can look forward to thrilling displays of skill and determination in the upcoming matches.
