Adrian Sofield, a businessman from Nadi, has devoted two decades of his life to picking up litter along Denarau Road. Yesterday, he was spotted singlehandedly cleaning up the roadside. Sofield, who lives just a five-minute drive from Denarau in Votualevu, is regularly involved in these cleanup efforts.
Sofield runs Earth (South Pacific) Limited and affirms that he, along with his family, have been committed to this cause for the last 20 years. He said, “I constantly pick up rubbish here. Often, people park, eat and then discard their leftovers here. Others throw out their trash while they’re on their way to or from Denarau.”
Observing the litter strewn around breaks his heart, mentioned Sofield. He stressed that being a route frequented by tourists, Denarau Road calls for constant care. He added, “This road leads to five-star hotels. Don’t we want our tourists to witness a clean environment? Shouldn’t we cherish our surroundings?”
Sofield’s commitment to public service is reflected in his extensive record. His previous roles include chairman positions at Fijian Holdings Limited, Airport Fiji Limited, and Rewa Dairy Limited. He has also been chairman of Investment Fiji, a director for the Housing Authority and Public Rental Boards, and chairman of Fiji Hardwood Corporation. Presently, he holds the position of chairman for Naisoso Island Corporate.
Apart from his public service endeavors, Sofield runs his own company, Earth (South Pacific) Limited, in Nadi. The company offers sustainable services related to wastewater, sewage, and odor control.
