Two men accused of intimidating a bus attendant at the Nadi Bus Station have been apprehended by police. The incident gained significant attention after a video of the altercation circulated on social media, particularly on Facebook.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, the men were taken into custody for causing a disturbance in a public space. ACP Driu emphasized that the actions of these individuals frequently disrupt the travel experience by harassing bus drivers and passengers, creating an unsafe and stressful atmosphere for everyone involved.
He urged Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers facing similar issues to report incidents to the nearest police station, Community Police Post, or checkpoints. He also called on the community to remain vigilant and supportive of one another, especially as the holiday season approaches, to ensure a safe and incident-free Christmas.
This incident reflects the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to maintain public safety and encourage community cooperation in addressing disturbances. It serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and reporting troubling behavior to uphold the integrity of public transport systems.
With the holiday season around the corner, there is hope that communities will come together to create a safe environment for all.
