The FMF Nadi Bula Festival is set to kick off from July 19 to July 26, featuring nine contestants competing for the title of Miss Bula Queen. The announcement of the contestants took place during the festival’s launch, which also marked the 65th edition of the event. This year’s theme is “Rebuilding Lives Through Compassion and Charity,” reflecting the festival’s commitment to making a positive impact in the community.

Festival Trust president Salome Williams expressed that one of the main objectives is to support local initiatives, particularly by enhancing resources for the Nadi Town Council library. This includes the provision of a photocopying machine and two desktop computers to facilitate better services for the community.

Williams emphasized the significance of this year’s festival as it returns after a four-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The fundraising efforts from last year collected a substantial $15,000, enabling this year’s festival to move forward with a surplus of $26,000.

Maria Kumar, the FMF Group marketing manager, underscored that their support as the festival’s naming rights sponsor signifies a commitment to fostering community engagement and celebrating the rich cultural diversity of Fiji. The Miss Bula Festival represents a reunion of sorts, promoting unity and joy among the participants and attendees.

The festival will not only showcase cultural performances but also feature an entertainment stage at Prince Charles Park, promising a week full of festivities that highlight the spirit of togetherness within the community.

The return of such cultural events is a welcome sign of resilience and recovery, showcasing the power of community solidarity and the joy of reconnecting after challenging times. It echoes sentiments shared at other recent festivals in Fiji, which likewise emphasize community engagement and empowerment through celebration.
