Nadi Airport: The New Heart of Pacific Aviation and Investment

Nadi International Airport is emerging as a key attraction for investments, trade, talent, and visitors. According to Mesake Nawari, the CEO of Fiji Airports Ltd, the airport has demonstrated a strong recovery in the aviation sector, with a consistent increase in passenger traffic at both the international entry point and domestic locations.

Nawari made these remarks during the commissioning of several projects initiated by Fiji Airports, a component of the ‘Enhancing COVID-19 Preparedness for Tourism Recovery Project’, which is supported by the Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific through the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The newly established facilities include a new exit for boarding gate 8, upgraded washroom amenities at the international departure lounge, and the acquisition of 500 crowd control barriers and 500 baggage trolleys.

“This year, Nadi International Airport, which leads the Pacific region in the recovery of international travel, recorded 2,635,766 international passenger movements and saw 1,339,790 international passengers in the first half of 2024,” Mr. Nawari stated.

He emphasized the critical role of Fiji Airports as a cornerstone of the country’s economy, contributing to the nation’s goal of becoming a key player in regional aviation.

“The growth and achievements of Fiji Airports are central to Fiji’s emergence as a leader in aviation and a tourism hotspot. Our proven track record highlights our commitment to excellence, and these projects will transform how our community approaches air travel and business prospects.”
