The Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations, Agni Deo Singh, has acknowledged that the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) report for Nabua Primary School is still pending. A visit to the school took place on November 4, with expectations for the report to be released the following day. However, despite repeated inquiries, the Ministry has not yet acted on the issue.
Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro has also spoken about the worsening conditions at Nabua Primary School, where students are currently facing unsafe environments due to incomplete and poorly maintained facilities. He noted that the building, constructed under previous management, was left unfinished. “We are now working with the new management to identify the best way to complete the structure,” Radrodro stated, encouraging the school to formally request government assistance through the Ministry of Education as needed.
The condition of the school has raised serious concerns, as many classrooms exhibit structural damages such as rusted roofs and significant gaps in windows where panes are missing. This not only jeopardizes the safety of the students but also creates potential hazards in case of emergencies. The ongoing situation affects more than 900 students and underscores a larger problem regarding the declining quality of public education infrastructure in urban areas.
This situation, while concerning, presents an opportunity for improvement. The government’s acknowledgment of the issue and the willingness to work with school management suggest a commitment to enhancing the safety and condition of the school. With collective efforts, there is hope for constructing a safe and conducive learning environment for the students at Nabua Primary School. The proactive stance taken by both ministers could pave the way for a brighter future in public education infrastructure.
