A mysterious vessel docked at Lautoka wharf has captured public interest as it prepares for dry docking. The maritime ship, Yavirau, is linked to various local stakeholders, including notable businessman Wella Pillay, who is rumored to have acquired the vessel on behalf of a Fijian chief residing abroad.
Although the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji has not confirmed any ownership details or plans related to the vessel, reports indicate that the Yavirau is owned by Tui Lakeba, Ratu Tevita Mara. The ship, flying a Mongolian flag, arrived in Lautoka recently and is currently undergoing maintenance.
