A mysterious vessel docked at Lautoka wharf has captured public interest as it prepares for dry docking. The maritime ship Yavirau has several local affiliations, including that of prominent businessman Wella Pillay, who is believed to have acquired the vessel for a Fijian chief residing overseas. Although the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji has no information regarding the vessel’s ownership or future intentions, sources indicate that the Yavirau is owned by Tui Lakeba, Ratu Tevita Mara. The vessel, which flies a Mongolian flag, is currently undergoing maintenance after its arrival in Lautoka a few days ago.
