A mysterious vessel that has docked at Lautoka wharf has captured public interest while it awaits dry docking. The maritime vessel, called Yavirau, has several local connections, including prominent businessman Wella Pillay, who is reported to have acquired the vessel for a Fijian chief residing overseas.

Although the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji has not confirmed any details regarding the ownership or future plans for the vessel, sources reveal that the Yavirau is owned by Tui Lakeba, Ratu Tevita Mara. The vessel, which flies a Mongolian flag, is currently undergoing maintenance after its recent arrival in Lautoka.
