A mysterious vessel docked at Lautoka wharf has captured public interest as it prepares for dry docking. The maritime vessel Yavirau has several local connections, including businessman Wella Pillay, who is rumored to have purchased the vessel for a Fijian chief living overseas. Although the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji is unaware of the vessel’s ownership or intentions, it has been confirmed by SunBiz that the Yavirau is owned by Tui Lakeba, Ratu Tevita Mara. The vessel, which flies a Mongolian flag, is currently undergoing maintenance after arriving in Lautoka a few days ago.
