A mysterious vessel that has docked at Lautoka Wharf is attracting public interest as it prepares for dry docking. The maritime vessel, named Yavirau, is linked to several local figures, including notable businessman Wella Pillay, who is rumored to have acquired the vessel on behalf of an overseas Fijian chief.
Despite the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji having no information on the vessel’s ownership or future plans, reports confirm that the Yavirau is owned by Tui Lakeba, Ratu Tevita Mara. The vessel, which flies a Mongolian flag, arrived in Lautoka a few days ago and is currently undergoing maintenance.
