The family of a businessman from Martintar, Nadi, is seeking answers after the tragic drowning of Zou Fan, known affectionately as Andy, in the Mamanuca Group waters two weeks ago. The 52-year-old was an executive at the tourist agency Fabulous Holiday and is remembered fondly by his son, Zou Junjie, who describes him as a joyful and kind person who brought happiness to those around him.

According to Mr. Zou, a New Zealand couple discovered his father’s body while snorkeling near Malamala Beach Club. Andy had taken a group of 80 Chinese tourists to the club and subsequently went snorkeling. When he did not return, the search for him began, revealing the heartbreaking truth.

Brad Rutherford, CEO of South Sea Cruises, acknowledged the tragic event and stated, “We were aware of a death, but we cannot be certain it was due to drowning. We are currently awaiting the autopsy report.” This uncertainty adds to the family’s grief as they seek clarity during this painful time.

Zou Fan is survived by his two sons and his mother, leaving a significant loss for his loved ones. Police spokesperson Wame Bautolu confirmed that the incident happened on October 18 at 4 PM and noted that an investigation is underway as the family clings to hope for answers amidst their sorrow.

While the situation is undoubtedly tragic, it highlights the importance of community support and the cherished memories that Andy left behind. His legacy of kindness and joy will continue to resonate with those he touched during his life.

As updates unfold regarding the investigation, there is hope that the family will ultimately find the closure they seek.
