The much-anticipated launch of the COMO Laucala Island hangar at Nadi International Airport took place yesterday in a private event behind closed doors, leaving many questions unanswered. This opening followed industry discussions regarding the necessity of a ‘miracle’ to facilitate the hangar’s launch.

Trade Minister Manoa Kamikamica confirmed that the event was restricted to only the Government’s Information arm. He added that the launch signifies a positive shift for the business environment.

The multi-million dollar development project, which took five years to complete, faced numerous challenges, including several Stop Order notices during the previous Bainimarama administration. Kamikamica remarked that the project was halted by the earlier government until it received the green light from Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to move forward.

Laucala Island, known as a luxurious destination for affluent travelers, contributes approximately $3 million in foreign exchange to Fiji each month. COMO Laucala Island also features a private lounge at Nadi International Airport.
