Traffic investigators are appealing to the public for help in identifying the victim of a tragic road accident that took place in the Southern Division in the early hours of October 1.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana reported that the victim, a man believed to be in his late 20s, was found lying in the middle of Queens Road near Talenaua in Navua when he was struck by a vehicle at around 1 a.m. The driver of the vehicle, a 36-year-old man, immediately rushed the victim to Navua Hospital; unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Despite ongoing investigations, the identity of the victim remains a mystery. SSP Divuana describes him as an i-taukei male and noted that police have released images of his clothing as well as a distinctive tattoo on his left arm, with the hope that these details may prompt someone to come forward with information about him.
Authorities encourage anyone with information to contact the Traffic Investigation Unit at 9905 633. As the investigation proceeds, police are eager to gather any leads that could help provide answers and closure in this sad situation.
