Mystery Deepens After Woman Found on Fiji Beach

Police have determined that foul play is not a factor in the case of a half-clothed woman discovered on Muanikau Beach in Nasese last Wednesday. Fiji Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro confirmed that a post-mortem examination ruled out rape.

“Foul play has been ruled out following the post-mortem examinations, and she was not raped as claimed,” Naisoro stated.

Eyewitnesses Donnal Praveen and Rozlyn Nazia reported that while driving along Queen Elizabeth Drive, they saw two women attempting to cover the woman on the beach.

“There were two iTaukei ladies trying to cover her up, and one of them asked us if we could talk to her because they thought she couldn’t understand English,” Praveen explained.

They contacted the Muanikau Police Post, and an officer arrived to investigate. The officer examined her bag, found an ID prescription with a name, and noted a phone number on a slip of paper.

“We called the number on the slip and asked if he knew the lady, but he said he didn’t know her until we reached the hospital where he was able to identify her,” Praveen added.

Nazia recalled that the officer collected seawater to clean the woman before dressing her.

“We then took her to the station before putting her in our vehicle to CWM Hospital. That’s where we last saw her,” she stated.

Tragically, the woman passed away at CWM Hospital a few hours later.
