The much-anticipated opening of the COMO Laucala Island hangar at Nadi International Airport took place yesterday, but it unfolded under a veil of mystery as the event was held privately. Trade Minister Manoa Kamikamica confirmed that the launch was exclusive, allowing only the Government’s Information arm to attend. He expressed that the event promises to foster a positive business environment.
This substantial investment project, which took five years to complete, encountered numerous challenges, including several Stop Order notices during the previous Bainimarama administration. Kamikamica noted that progress on this project was stalled by the last government until Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka permitted it to move forward.
Located in Fiji, Laucala Island is a luxurious destination frequented by wealthy clients, contributing approximately $3 million in foreign exchange to the country each month. COMO Laucala Island is recognized as one of the largest private resorts globally and features a dedicated lounge at Nadi International Airport.
