Mysterious Hotel Death Sparks Investigation in Fiji

Authorities are currently investigating the death of Jason Rigby, a 41-year-old acting manager at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Wailoaloa, Nadi. The Australian national, originally from the Gold Coast, was found deceased in a hotel bathroom around 8 am on Saturday.

According to Police spokesperson Sergeant Wame Bautolu, Rigby’s body was discovered in a motionless state, and it is presently located at the mortuary of Nadi Hospital where it awaits a post-mortem examination. Despite the circumstances surrounding his death, local authorities have indicated that there is no active criminal investigation related to the incident.

In a statement, Shaun Parsons, the General Manager of Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a valued team member. He confirmed that the hotel remains in close communication with Rigby’s family, providing them with support during this challenging time. Parsons emphasized the hotel’s collective sentiment, highlighting their thoughts and prayers for the family while requesting privacy for them.
