The Fiji Police have confirmed that pistols and ammunition recovered from the Fiji Sugar Corporation’s Lautoka Mill head office were initially mistaken for defense spray gas guns. Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu provided this information following the discovery made by a staff member during routine office cleaning.

Tudravu noted that preliminary assessments carried out at the location by a representative from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) indicated that the seized items appear to be defense spray gas guns. However, he emphasized that further expert examination of both the pistols and the ammunition is necessary to clarify their nature and intended use.

Police have established a cordon around the FSC premises as they continue their investigation into the matter. This ongoing inquiry underscores the importance of safety and security within workplace environments. The findings will hopefully lead to a better understanding of the situation and ensure that safety protocols are upheld at all facilities.
