Mysterious Death of Hotel Manager Shocks Fiji Community

Police are currently investigating the death of Jason Rigby, a 41-year-old acting manager at the Crowne Plaza in Wailoaloa, Nadi. Rigby, who hailed from the Gold Coast in Australia, was found unresponsive in a hotel bathroom on Saturday morning around 8 a.m.

Sergeant Wame Bautolu confirmed that Rigby’s body has been transported to the Nadi Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Despite the ongoing investigation, it has been clarified by local authorities that no criminal inquiry is being pursued in connection with this incident.

Shaun Parsons, the General Manager of Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay, expressed the hotel’s collective sorrow regarding Rigby’s passing. In a statement released on December 14, 2024, Parsons noted that the hotel team is deeply affected by the loss of their colleague and is providing support to Rigby’s family during this challenging time. The hotel has requested privacy for the family as they mourn their loss.

The circumstances surrounding Rigby’s death remain a priority for investigators as they continue their inquiries.
