Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a male inmate at the Natabua Prison in Lautoka, Fiji. The prisoner, who was in his late 20s and originally from Rakiraki, was discovered unresponsive in his cell early yesterday morning. Despite immediate medical attention and being rushed to the hospital, he was sadly pronounced dead by attending physicians.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, ACP Mesake Waqa, confirmed that the investigation is underway. “The incident was reported to Lautoka Police Station on the same day, and the proper investigation procedures have been initiated,” he stated. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to ascertain the cause of death.
