The Super Rugby Pacific Foul Play Review Committee (FPRC) has ruled that Motikiai Murray, flanker for the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua, committed a dangerous tackle during a match against the ACT Brumbies on March 14, 2025. The incident, which occurred in the 79th minute, led to the issuance of a red card.
After reviewing the case, the committee confirmed the red card and set a mid-range suspension entry point of six weeks due to the violation of Law 9.13, which concerns dangerous tackles. However, given Murray’s acceptance of his guilt and his previously clean disciplinary record, the committee applied a 50% reduction to the suspension, resulting in a three-week ban.
As a consequence of this ruling, Murray will miss key upcoming matches, specifically against the Western Force, Crusaders, and Highlanders. Furthermore, he will be ineligible to apply for the World Rugby Coaching Intervention Programme.
